Anthropic – one of the leading US companies developing artificial intelligence – is ready to take US federal agencies and their top executives to court after being blacklisted by the Trump administration because it is considered a "supply chain risk" and a "threat" to US national security.

This decision comes after Anthropic chose to end its collaboration with the Pentagon , citing concerns about the "unrestricted" use of AI technologies for military purposes. This stance prompted Washington to blacklist the company.

But Anthropic, as mentioned, isn't having it and is now preparing to take legal action against the Trump administration: "The Constitution does not allow the government to exercise its enormous power to punish a company for its free speech," the document announcing the lawsuit states. "No federal law," it adds, "authorizes the actions taken in this case. Therefore, Anthropic is turning to the courts as a last resort to vindicate its rights and stop the executive branch's unlawful campaign of retaliation."
