The 12-year-old boy who had been kidnapped last night by his father, Halim B., in northern France and for whom the police had raised a national alarm this morning, was found safe and sound: it is learned from a source close to investigations.

The baby, named Hamza, was found mid-morning at the home of his father's sister in Pas-de-Calais (Nord), the same department where he was kidnapped by his parent, a 40-year-old man defined by the police as "potentially dangerous".

According to a police source, the man kidnapped his son after he was entrusted to his mother on Tuesday as part of a separation case.

The kidnapping took place last night and this morning the national alarm went off throughout France.
