Tragic shipwreck in the North Atlantic Ocean for a Spanish fishing boat, which sank about 450 kilometers from the Canadian island of Newfoundland.

According to what was reported by the Iberian media, the ship - Villa de Pitanxo, owned by the Galician group Nores - was surprised by the rough sea and the crew - made up of 24 people in total - was forced to abandon it on the lifeboats.

After the SOS, another fishing boat and then a helicopter from the Canadian Coastal Authorities was brought to the scene.

However, only three seafarers - said the spokeswoman of the Madrid government, Isabel Rodríguez - have survived. Some lifeless sailors were found on a lifeboat, there is no news of the other crew members.

"Bad news is coming from the other side of the Atlantic, it has been reported that there are dead and missing," Spanish Deputy Prime Minister Yolanda Díaz wrote on Twitter.

The crew included Spanish, Peruvian and Ghanaian sailors.
