New developments have emerged in the dramatic fire that broke out yesterday afternoon on a bus in the center of Kerzers , in the Swiss canton of Fribourg. The accident, which killed six people and injured five others , was apparently caused by a man who poured gasoline over himself and set himself on fire inside the vehicle, according to eyewitnesses.

The police at the moment   confirmed that they had gathered information that a person had set himself on fire , but has not yet officially confirmed it. "At the moment, the police are focusing on a human cause at the origin of the fire, and even a deliberate act," said Cantonal Police Assistant Frédéric Papaux . This hypothesis would therefore rule out a terrorist motive.

Regarding the victims, according to Martial Pugin , head of the Communications and Prevention Section of the Fribourg Cantonal Police, it is not yet possible to determine how long the identification process will take, which could take several days. According to Pugin, four people were still missing overnight.

This afternoon, the Fribourg authorities will hold a press conference to provide further details on the incident.

The bus was traveling from Düdingen (FR) to Kerzers. The cantonal police operations and alarm center was alerted around 6:25 PM. When emergency responders arrived on the scene, the vehicle was already completely ablaze . The victims' bodies were found inside.
