The Cagliari Beach Soccer women's team had no chance, ending their run in the Women's Euro Winners Cup main draw in the quarterfinals. The Rossoblu lost 7-1 against Barcelona, a result that sent the Sardinian team into the second half of the playoffs, which doesn't decide the title but rather the fifth-to-eighth place finishes. Yesterday, they defeated Brussels .

And yet, the match in Nazaré, Portugal, had started off well for Cagliari Beach Soccer, with an early own goal from Jou . It wasn't enough, because in the first of three 12-minute periods, Barcelona turned the score around with goals from Adriele and Manau. In the second half, the Spanish team broke away with goals from Lorena and Laia, before then running riot in the third with goals from Blanca, Lorena again, and Alcaide.

The Euro Winners Cup isn't over for Cagliari, however, with the women's beach soccer team playing their first match of the season ( the men's team made their debut last week in Castelsardo, in the first leg of the Serie A Scudetto Pool ). The Rossoblù will return to the beach in Nazaré tomorrow, in a match that will decide who qualifies for one of Sunday's two finals: fifth-sixth place (with a win) or seventh-eighth place (with a loss).
