Cagliari Beach Soccer will play in the fifth- and sixth-place match at the Women's Euro Winners Cup, an international tournament taking place this week in Nazaré, Portugal. The Rossoblu girls immediately bounced back from yesterday's defeat against Barcelona , defeating Cadizfornia 2-6 today in the match that determined their qualification for one of the two finals (for fifth/sixth or seventh/eighth place).
As in the round of 16 against Brussels, Cagliari Beach Soccer was called upon to mount a comeback. Cadizfornia ended the first half 1-0 up, with Sabela scoring, but then Veronica Privitera unleashed her skills: the rossoblù captain scored a brace in a matter of seconds, turning the score around. Sabela then equalized, but the Sardinians regained the lead through Varvara, and Privitera scored a hat trick with just seconds left in the half . In the third and final period, an own goal by Kolodsinski and a goal by Saggion sealed the final score at 2-6.
The Euro Winners Cup will conclude for Cagliari tomorrow. At 2:15 PM (Italian time), they will face Pastéis , the home team due to their Portuguese roots, who defeated Pozoalbense 6-1 today. Afterwards, the Rossoblù will face their national team commitments in Serie A beach soccer.
