"There has been an awareness and responsibility on the part of the mayors and all the actors at the table."

These are the first words of President Alessandra Todde on the sidelines of the urgent summit in Cagliari, promoted by the Region, after the drought alarm and the protests following the latest decision of the basin authority.

The provision ordered the Reclamation Consortium to provide water only to the Abbanoa purification plants. But in this way entire hamlets and dozens of large tourist facilities would be cut off.

Todde summoned the mayors of Budoni, San Teodoro, Siniscola, Posada and Torpè, the leaders of Abbanoa, Egas and the central Sardinia land reclamation consortium.

«The positive effect of the resolution – he said in closing – was to accelerate the proposal of solutions and to discuss the urgency of the situation . The outcome of these three hours of discussion is that we have decided to have a permanent table because the solutions are many and the actors are different ."

«The situation is serious, we risk running out of drinking water at the end of July if action is not taken. This situation must be monitored continuously,” he continued.

«The solutions proposed are different – the conclusion –: the use of private wells, monitoring of losses and an immediate timetable by Abbanoa . All this must be coordinated and put together: we are heirs to a situation that has been let go for decades ."
