Todde's dismissal in court, everything postponed: hearing on May 22

The judges of the first civil section of the Cagliari court have decided to hear on May 22 the appeal of the President of the Sardinia Region Alessandra Todde, regarding the injunction order of the Electoral Guarantee Board of the Court of Appeal that had sanctioned the candidate with 40,000 euros and a resolution of forfeiture transmitted to the Regional Council.
This morning, before the panel presided over by Judge Gaetano Savona, the governor's lawyers and the members of the guarantee panel appeared, who filed the reasons for the order. Also in the courtroom were numerous other lawyers for individual citizens and regional councilors, who requested to intervene in the hearing in support of or against the appeal of the President of the Region .
A long debate between lawyers in which Professor Riccardo Fercia, member and representative of the panel, and the director Daniela Muntoni, raised doubts about the fact that the matter should be discussed before a panel, but bringing it back to a single judge. Todde's lawyers (Benedetto and Stefano Ballero, Giuseppe Macciotta and Priamo Siotto) contested the entire order and its conclusions.
Finally, after a brief interruption for a quick council chamber, the judges returned to the courtroom declaring themselves ready to hear the case and adjourning the hearing to May 22 : that day there will also be the conclusions and then the sentence will be filed electronically. Also present in the courtroom were two public prosecutors sent by the Public Prosecutor's Office, as required by the electoral regulations, who reiterated that the procedure to be implemented is the collegial one because it is not just an administrative sanction, but the Regional Council, once the judicial process of the appeal has been concluded, would have no room for maneuver, but would be forced to ratify the forfeiture decided by the regional electoral guarantee college.
