«Alessandra Todde is the only candidate who intercepts votes from voters on the lists of other coalitions».

This is what we read in the analysis of the vote in Sardinia ( ALL ARTICLES ) last Sunday, carried out by the “Carlo Cattaneo” Institute of Studies and Research.

According to the study, the Campo Largo candidate who emerged victorious in the electoral comparison obtained votes «both from voters of the "third pole" led by Renato Soru and from voters of center-right parties. On the contrary - the analysts add - Soru takes outgoing votes almost exclusively from voters who at the same time voted for centre-left lists. Unrelated to this dynamic, Truzzu benefits from almost no external contribution."

«Furthermore – continues the Foundation's analysis – Todde attracts almost all “non-party” voters (who have not cast a list vote). Our data - the study specifies - do not allow us to definitively answer the question regarding the weight of the "betrayals" of which, according to a widespread conjecture, the voters of the League are accused . According to our estimates, in Sassari the share of Northern League voters who defected is marginal. In Cagliari this share is quite significant in relation to the total votes going to the League. According to the estimates produced by our statistical model, more than a third of Cagliari's Northern League voters voted for Alessandra Todde. We are talking about relatively small percentages of support (1.5%) in relation to the total votes validly expressed for the presidential candidates in the city of Cagliari".

«As we know - concludes the Cattaneo Foundation study - the outcome of the competition was decided by an even smaller margin but it would be inappropriate to attribute the responsibility solely to the "dissenting" Northern League votes. Our analysis reveals that in both Sassari and Cagliari there were contributions to the centre-left candidate of an overall equal or greater size also coming from the electorates of other centre-right parties".
