"The North is richer thanks to the money of all Italians, thinking of basing it on historical spending allowing it to spend more is unfair. Sardinia is the leader in this battle"Alessandra Todde (Facebook)

" Differentiated autonomy undermines our speciality, harms us and represents a threat to the fundamental principle of equality of all citizens ."
This is how Alessandra Todde on Facebook motivates the decision of the Council that today formalized the appeal to the Consulta against the Calderoli law . An appeal that the Tuscany Region will also present tomorrow, while the collection of signatures for the abrogative referendum has exceeded the quorum of 500 thousand signatures in less than a month and the bar is raised, setting the goal at one million.
"I am proud - Todde writes on social media - that Sardinia is leading this battle, in defense of those who have less and against the will of this government to increase the disparity between the territories. We cannot tolerate a law that favors the richest regions. We are fighting to ensure that every Sardinian and every Italian citizen are treated with the same dignity and can have the same opportunities, and it is our duty to oppose political choices that weaken our country, would like to silence the poorest regions and pit us against each other".
The Sardinian governor, speaking to journalists, goes into more detail about what she believes to be the flaws in the measure.
" The Northern Regions have been equipped with infrastructure in recent decades with the money of all Italian citizens. They have become rich Regions, they have become driving Regions with the help of everyone, with the money of the State. Thinking now simply of basing it on historical spending and therefore of allowing these Regions that have had more to spend more also on the basis of what they can keep is an unfair thing ," he explains.
Another fundamental point, according to Todde, is the fact that the essential services have not been defined: «This is a betrayal, it was essential to define what were the essential levels of assistance (Lea) with respect to the law of differentiated autonomy. Instead, they wanted to rush to put up flags, independently of the fact of being able to correctly define the Lea, of understanding what the equalization fund is and with what money any gaps will be filled».
The law essentially establishes "only the fact that the Northern Regions will be different from those with special statutes and those in the South, because they will be able to simply proceed on their own."
Finally, a practical example: «Think about the negotiation with Europe, which is not a competence that involves the definition of Lea. Do you think that a Region that can have strength like Lombardy or Veneto can negotiate in Europe like Calabria or Sardinia? Well, this does not help the cohesion and subsidiarity of our country, so also for this reason differentiated autonomy must be fought ».
