The Santa Sarbana tenor choir was reconstituted after the premature death of su bassu and pillar of the formation, Gavino Mura , which took place 10 months ago. This was announced by the other three members, Angelo Cossu (boghe), Giovanni Cossu (mesa oghe), Giovanni Antonio Faedda (contra), who wanted to continue the journey, which began way back in 1975, in the world of popular traditions.

In place of Gavino Mura, as bassu, Antonello Sechi, 36, who had already been part of the formation for some time, but as contra, took over. «After the painful death of Gavino Mura, we thought we had finished the adventure that began 47 years earlier - says Giovanni Cossu - Six months later, however, we met and decided to go ahead, convinced that we still have a lot to give to popular traditions of our island. We do it first of all in memory of our unforgettable friend Gavino Mura, we do it for his family members, who encouraged us to go ahead and we do it out of passion and to continue the discourse of valorization of the popular traditions of our country and of the whole Sardinia».

The historical formation has always been engaged in the cultural and historical research of local traditions. The choir has created numerous paths, with various recordings, including Vidas, created with the texts of the writer and poet Paolo Pillonca. «Let's continue on the same line of about 50 years of activity - concludes Giovanni Cossu - let's start the new adventure with a calendar and with the enhancement of popular traditions».
