After the rejection of the referendum on euthanasia by the Constitutional Court, which declared inadmissible the question proposed by the Coscioni Association and supported by a series of associations, a ruling on the other seven referendums concerning justice and the controversial issue of decriminalization is expected. of cannabis, which still sees among its promoters the Coscioni Association with + Europa, Radicale Italiani, Possible, Potere al popolo and Prc and a long series of associations.
This morning, therefore, the council chamber to decide on admissibility is resumed at the Constitutional Court.
As for euthanasia “we have done everything possible - the comment arrived this morning from Marco Cappato, of the Luca Coscioni association - with 1 million and 240 thousand people who supported this Referendum. Pain is not the right reaction today because this action goes on. The fight doesn't stop there. Instead, let's see now what will happen on the other referendum, the one on cannabis. If it were to be canceled, this too risks being a missed opportunity for the possibility of a referendum season. Also on justice, because then there is the problem of the quorum… ".
THE REFERENDUM - The referendum on cannabis intervenes on the Consolidated Law on the discipline of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances, both in terms of criminal relevance and on that of the administrative sanctions of a series of conducts in the field of drugs. First of all, it proposes to decriminalize cultivation and to eliminate prison for any illegal conduct relating to cannabis, with the exception of the association aimed at illicit trafficking.
On the administrative level, the question proposes to eliminate the sanction of suspension of the driving license and of the certificate of suitability to drive mopeds, now envisaged for all conducts aimed at the personal use of any narcotic or psychotropic substance.
THE POSITION OF THE PARTIES - The M5s are among the supporters of the referendum, while the Democratic Party has never expressed a clear position. Contrary, however, Forza Italia, Lega and Fratelli d'Italia. The leader of the Lega Matteo Salvini, answering just yesterday to a question on the referendum being examined by the Constitutional Court, specified: "Let's see what will be accepted or not, I am against the use of all kinds of drugs, whether cultivation, distribution and use of all types of drugs ". Then to the journalist who insisted: "If you want to get the joints you can do them I'm here to talk about the referendum of justice", the conclusion.
