"Aeroitalia informs that it has mandated its lawyers to appeal to the competent authorities regarding the evolution of the tender relating to the territorial continuity of the Sardinia Region in relation to the Olbia-Rome section". Thus the note released today by the company.

There is no peace in the skies of air territorial continuity after the award of the routes, with the tender promoted by the Region, to Ita (at the Cagliari airport) and to Aeroitalia itself (at the Olbia airport) and the unexpected decision to Volotea to manage the Olbia-Rome Fiumicino route without compensation.

Aeroitalia – reads the note – will ask the Regional Administrative Court to suspend the tender on the Olbia-Rome route pending the ruling by the Sardinia Region and the European Community on the conduct of the Spanish airline Volotea ”. Not only. The new carrier , in the note signed by the managing director Gaetano Intrieri, announces its intention to insure the Olbia-Rome route without any compensation : "This manifested will - reads the press release - does not preclude Aeroitalia's conviction of having the right to the award in as the winner of the tender on trafficking".

Meanwhile, today the air transport unions reaffirmed the need for companies to be serious and reliable in managing routes to and from Sardinia and underlined the need to identify a new model of territorial continuity.
