"The unblocking of exports will be the driving force behind the relaunch of the pig sector ." This was stated by the President of the Region Christian Solinas , recalling that December 15 will mark the end of the embargo triggered in 2011 as a result of the measures against the spread of African swine fever .

"For twelve years the sector had to pay a very high price with a sharp decline in the marketing of products - he added - in 2010 the Sardinian pig production chain counted 300 thousand quintals of slaughtered pork for almost 650 thousand heads in addition to a production of 55 thousand quintals of cured meats. ".

For this reason, "it is conceivable to hypothesize what the positive effects of the removal of the block on exports will be, which will finally be able to find the way free from constraints and resume the road that leads to national and foreign markets with new prospects that are difficult to quantify at the moment but which they will certainly be consistent ". Just to give an example, "the block on exports has led to a lack of growth for the cured meats market in these twelve long years of at least 30%. And this is only the premise of what the development prospects for the entire sector ".
