"Being one of the most virtuous regions in Italy , exactly the second after Veneto , and being considered an example for good practices in the management of separate waste collection confirms the importance of adequate planning, particularly in plant engineering, which Sardinia has been able to achieve in recent years».

These were the words of the regional councilor for the defense of the environment, Marco Porcu, during his speech at the Ecoforum on the management of wet waste in the ecological transition , organized by Lega Ambiente, which took place this morning in the ERSU conference room in Sassari.

« We stood at 74.9% , but we can't consider it a point of arrival. The goal of 80% is within our reach , especially if an important municipality such as Sassari, the second largest city on the island, manages to improve its percentage of separate collection of urban waste (59.4% in 2021), considering which is among the eight municipalities of the island with the most deficits with a percentage below 65%, the minimum threshold established by law. It is the objective of the Region to study new collection systems, new rewards and improve citizens' knowledge and awareness of the collection and recycling chain, especially the younger generations. Therefore, we will continue to program environmental education initiatives in schools. An integrated system of actions that can contribute to the preservation and protection of the environment, the fundamental heritage of our island», concluded the exponent of the Giunta Solinas.
