Sardinian lawyer Mauro Balata received recognition as a Knight of Rome with the 2025 Lino Cascioli Award. The ceremony took place on Saturday at Rome's Teatro Brancaccio, with the title awarded for his commitment to promoting sporting and social ideals.
In recent days, Balata's name has been circulating vigorously among candidates for the CEO position at Roma . A position that is currently vacant, the Calangianus lawyer is in the running with a real chance of being chosen.
Until last year, Balata was president of Lega B. For 27 years he was Deputy Prosecutor of the Federal Prosecutor's Office of the FIGC, and among his numerous roles in the world of football was that of head of the Italy Under-21 delegation.
