The “ energy release ” decree is “absolutely unsuitable for averting further cuts in industrial production with easily imaginable consequences, especially in terms of employment for the already weak production system of the two islands and in particular of Sardinia”.

This is the alarm cry launched by Confindustria Sardegna and Confindustria Sicilia , which sent a joint note to the ministers of Ecological Transition and Economic Development, asking for measures that guarantee cost containment for the energy-intensive companies located in the two islands.

"The provision - it reads - is absolutely essential to avoid suspensions or closures of strategic activities of great economic and employment impact ". Furthermore, considering the inclusion of the principle of insularity in the Constitution, the companies believe that it is “essential that the factors of further competitive disadvantage be removed with respect to the remaining energy-intensive peninsular companies”.

“The decree being enacted - observe the trade associations - does not seem to provide for any reserve quota in favor of the major islands or any priority criteria and that prices would still be high . If these news were confirmed, the measure is absolutely unsuitable to avert further cuts in industrial production with easily imaginable consequences, especially in terms of employment for the already weak production system of the two islands and in particular of Sardinia ".

The cost of energy is an alarm for all companies, in Sardinia in particular for Portovesme, which has already announced to the unions that without any news on the price of energy in October it will stop 90% of production, leaving behind more a thousand workers .
