Quartu is accelerating the redevelopment of the Fornaci Picci, the former industrial complex that, after nearly 50 years of abandonment, is preparing to become a new landmark for the city.

The executive project, valued at over 14 million euros, has been approved. This will launch a series of projects divided into several phases, with the goal of opening construction sites as quickly as possible.

The plan calls for the creation of a large urban park of over 15,000 square meters, located between Fornaci and the Rio Is Cungiuas , to provide new green spaces, walking trails, and bike paths. A €4.5 million regional grant is currently being requested for this project.

In parallel, discussions have already begun with the Superintendency to secure funding for the redevelopment of the historic bakery, which will be transformed into a museum and co-working and office spaces. The city council has also approved participation in a regional call for proposals for the renovation of the buildings overlooking Via Brigata Sassari.

The Councillor for Urban Planning Aldo Vanini explained how the new modular strategy allows us to overcome the delays linked to ministerial constraints and to ensure more flexible financial planning , thus guaranteeing the implementation of the strategic project for the city .

The Fornaci Picci, therefore, after decades of decay, will be given a new lease of life, becoming a prestigious area and a key element in the urban revitalization of Quartu within the regional landscape.
