The news was given this evening by the mayor of Maracalagonis Francesca Fadda at the end of the meeting of the City Council convened to discuss the budget. The bureaucratic process for the installation of 14 wind turbines in front of the bay of Baccu Mandara and Torre delle Stelle has restarted with the request of the company Ecowind 2 srl. Two years ago the practice had been suspended , it seemed forgotten, instead the cold shower arrived with the start of a new consultation to present any observations within 15 days.

This is essentially the start of a new procedure after two years of silence, which arrived today at the Municipality of Maracalagonis for the construction of a wind farm called "Bruncu de Lianu" . 14 wind turbines of 6.6 MW each are planned, for a total power of 92.4 MW , to be built on the hill that closely overlooks the tourist area on the sea.

This new consultation gives 15 days to present new observations. "I will ask - said the mayor Francesca Fadda indignantly - a meeting with the Region to stop this new procedure, it would be the destruction of that part of the territory close to our tourist area of Torre delle Stelle and Baccu Mandara . It would be the ruin of our entire economic and tourist system. We will fight with all our strength to repel this attack. We will ask for support from the president of the Region, the councilors and the entire Regional Council".

"I had been under the illusion, up to now, that Marcalagonis had been saved from the speculative violence of the false energy transition," Fadda explained. "Unfortunately, I had to take note of a different and, in some ways, surreal situation. Today, on March 10, 2025, I received a new start of proceedings after a two-year silence."

In the evening, minority councilor Gianluca Mudu said that "this is a battle that we must all win together. Let's say no to this plant that would have a terrible visual impact on one of the most beautiful tourist areas of the entire south-eastern coast. The Council of State rejected a photovoltaic plant project in Tuscany precisely because of the visual impact it would have on the territory. We must therefore thoroughly verify and totally reject a project that would be truly devastating."
