A full-blown vandalism raid in Macomer . The structure that until two years ago housed the institute of the Salesian nuns, Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, was targeted.
They devastated everything, smashing everything they found in their street: doors and windows, chairs, shop windows, school desks, furniture, electrical systems and anything else.
Until two years ago it hosted a high school, but above all the nursery school and the youth center, the oratory, the Main house, a refuge for mothers in difficulty, and then also home to the Le Pleiadi basketball teams. The damage is incalculable.
Nothing has leaked out from the police station, which is carrying out investigations to ascertain any responsibilities.
The entire structure was waiting for a new destination . There is talk of purchase by cooperatives and companies, but also by the Municipality. The news also bounced in the meeting of the municipal council, which took place yesterday evening. The condemnation was unanimous. The structure could very probably be the one identified to create the new center for the elderly, after the collapse of the ceiling that occurred last September 5, in the structure of Viale Nenni.
The councilor and deputy mayor, Maria Luisa Muzzu, during the city council meeting, answering a question from the minorities, spoke of the impossibility of repairing the building that housed the elderly until September 5 , now scattered in different structures in the area. "We are moving towards alternative solutions - she said - we have activated a direct channel with the ministry, to find the necessary funds, for the acquisition of a structure where we can build the center for the elderly and where we can group together different social services for the community".
The deputy mayor, although not referring to the nuns' house, nevertheless spoke of a large structure capable of accommodating many services.
