Following Delta's launch last May , United Airlines has also announced a new route directly connecting the United States and Sardinia.

The company is in fact ready to launch flights between Newark International Airport, New Jersey, and Olbia's Costa Smeralda starting in 2027.

According to preliminary information, the flight will be operated by a Boeing 767-300ER starting May 27, with three flights per week. Tickets are already on sale on the American carrier's website.

“It’s an option for travelers who don’t want to exclusively visit the crowded big European cities,” said Patrick Quayle , United’s senior vice president responsible for global network planning and alliances for the airline, as quoted by CNBC.

Among the new connections announced by United Airlines in Italy is a direct one between Newark and Catania Airport.
