Tragedy avoided at the Porto Alabe marina thanks to the prompt action of a young lifeguard, Mario Pintus, 28 years old from Tresnuraghes, assigned to the sea rescue service on behalf of the municipal administration . He intervened to save two Roman tourists who found themselves in difficulty getting back to shore.
It all happened on Monday 26 August shortly before 7pm, when a girl who was trying to rinse herself off on the shore was carried into the water by the particularly rough sea, ending up far from the shore in a few seconds .
Her father intervened to help her, but he too immediately found himself in great difficulty in trying to bring his daughter back to dry land. At that point, realizing what was happening, Mario Pintus jumped into the water and, albeit with difficulty, supported by another swimmer, managed to bring the two tourists back to shore, who were now completely exhausted. A crew from the Bosa Coast Guard also arrived on site to verify that there had been no serious consequences to the people.
" I was just doing my job," Pintus commented , receiving praise from the many people on the beach. " His courageous gesture is very much to be appreciated," said Teresa Manca from Sedilo, who was present during the rescue.
The lifeguard service at sea will end on September 2nd, but it is hoped that other resources will be found to continue at least until September 30th, considering that the high temperatures mean that the beach of Porto Alabe is always very busy.
