About 700 shells removed from the Sardinian coasts and, in particular, from the beaches of Bosa Marina (Oristano) and Poetto (Cagliari) were intercepted and seized by the officials of the Customs and Monopoly Agency (Adm) and by the Guardia di Finanza in the luggage of some tourists departing from Cagliari-Elmas "Mameli" airport.

Despite the information campaigns on social media, in the press and on TV, the signs posted in ports and airports as well as on the beaches, with the resumption of tourist flows, we are therefore seeing again vacationers who remove pebbles, sand and shells from the protected island coasts by the 2017 regional law which expressly prohibits the removal, possession and sale of even small quantities, providing for an administrative sanction ranging from 500 to 3,000 euros.

Last summer alone, from July to September, the ADM officials, also in the Elmas airport, seized about 5,400 pieces of shells and pebbles, imposing penalties on about twenty tourists who wanted to take home the precious souvenirs taken. from the most beautiful Sardinian beaches.
