The municipal council of Torpè unanimously expressed its negative opinion on the construction of the gas storage plant , which will have to supply the entire town, in the Istrumpadoglios area, in the immediate outskirts of the town.

A clear and clear stance , which emerged last night during the extraordinary City Council convened by the majority in agreement with the opposition, with the aim of meeting the security claims expressed by residents who live not far from the construction site of the project.

"We will convene the contractor company Medea-Italgas as soon as possible - the words of the mayor of Torpè, Martino Sanna, during the work of the Council and on the sidelines of the meeting - to which we will propose again, as already done in the past with public documents available on the website of the Municipality, to identify a new area where to build the plant ".

"A research that we intend to carry out - continues the mayor - in collaboration with all the municipal administration, offices and citizens who intend to make their own contribution. At the same time we will involve a lawyer who will accompany us immediately in this process of confrontation and mediation with the energy company. What is certain is that we will do everything we can to avoid a climate of conflict and dissatisfaction in our community ".

“In the next few hours - adds Sanna - we will meet the staff of the prefect of Nuoro , Luca Rotondi, who accepted our request for an interview to better face this critical moment. It is good for everyone, administrators and citizens, to understand the roles and powers that a mayor and a Council have in managing such a broad topic ".

“Nonetheless - the conclusion - we have also taken action with the Region so that all possible interlocutions between institutions and stakeholders are pursued for a good solution to the problem”.

The City Council , followed by over 60 citizens who actively participated by intervening during the works, has called itself as soon as updates arrive from the confrontation between the mayor and the construction company.
