Thirty-two new electric buses in Cagliari, scheduled for delivery by December 2025. By the end of this year, electric and zero-emission vehicles will account for nearly 50% of the fleet. By 2026, CTM will be approaching 80%. The goal is to reach 100% by 2030.

The green vehicles were unveiled at Poetto in the renovated Piazza degli Arcipelaghi. They are 18-meter Solaris Urbino 18E and 12-meter Otokar e-KENT C vehicles. "Increasingly sustainable and innovative mobility," said CTM President Fabrizio Rodin. " The 18-meter vehicles, in particular, will form the backbone of the strategic BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) project that will connect Cagliari to Quartu Sant'Elena via Poetto, offering a fast, sustainable, and high-capacity line. A key advantage: electric buses do not require the construction of new infrastructure, thus allowing for an immediate increase in transport capacity without construction sites. The new connection from the new Plaia hub to Quartu Sant'Elena and vice versa will guarantee Quartu residents direct and rapid access to Poetto and, more generally, to the metropolitan transport network."

The energy transition includes: 5 Euro VI hybrid articulated buses, 30 trolleybuses, and 119 electric buses.

"The unveiling," said Yuri Marcialis, City Councilor for Mobility, "of CTM's new electric buses represents a concrete result of the collaboration between the City of Cagliari and the metropolitan transport company. This step confirms the administration's commitment to more sustainable, efficient mobility that is attentive to the quality of urban life. By supporting CTM, we continue to invest in an innovative public transport system capable of reducing emissions, improving the environment, and offering citizens modern and safe services."
