The Sassari Aou presents the new business plan, established the "Breast unit"

The process for the new company deed of the Aou of Sassari officially starts. The document, already illustrated to the trade unions, defines the implementation methods with which the integrated performance of the assistance, teaching and research functions is guaranteed.

The innovations concern the establishment of the “ Breast unit ”, the structure specialized in the diagnosis, treatment and psychophysical rehabilitation of women with breast cancer. In addition, new structures and new departments are planned.

For the manager Aou, Antonio Lorenzo Spano " we are writing the future of our company . We have tried to enhance all the company structures with particular attention to those that we considered to be particularly strategic, especially in such a complex period for health. This work it could not be done without the collaboration with the University of Sassari ".

The rector of the Sassari University, Gavino Mariotti, underlined that "the act was born and developed with a process of sharing that allowed us to involve the directors of the medical area. A job that was also done with a careful eye towards our students ".

The general manager then explained the new corporate formation, which arises from regulatory guidelines, and that the corporate act was created to raise the quality of the service. Inside there will be 49 complex structures and 64 between simple and simple departmental structures . There will be 10 integrated care departments : of these 5 will be university-directed and among these those are Surgery, Specialist Surgery, Motor Sciences, Neurological and Rehabilitation Sciences (another novelty), Onco-haematology, Women's and child health protection. The other 5 departments will be hospital-directed, namely those of Medicine, Specialist Medicine, Emergency-Urgency, Cardiovascular, Diagnostics and Services. These are flanked by two other departments, that of the health professions and the technical-administrative one.

The novelty that held the spot was, certainly, the creation of the complex structure of Breast unit which also received the acclaim of the trade unions .

And again among the innovations, precisely with a view to enhancing the structures, is the transformation of the Burn Center into a complex structure . Added to this is the transformation of Geriatrics from a simple departmental structure to a complex structure. "They worked in an exceptional way in the period of the pandemic - underlined Spano again - giving a great contribution to the management of the Covid emergency".

The regional health reform, which led to the incorporation of the Marino hospital in Alghero, increased the number of beds available in the Aou, from 809 to 863 , with the entry of new structures. With this deed, the Regina Margherita hospital in viale I Maggio formally enters the business management and enhancement processes of the structures, thus obtaining full recognition and integration within Aou.

Another novelty in the Department of Health Professions which is strengthened with the presence of the simple departmental structure of Discharge room.
