Today it is about forty meters. Tomorrow there could be many more. The latest storm surges hit their mark and the 195 , just before the Rumianca pier, saw a piece of the roadway give way. In fact, an entire parking lot collapsed .

The area has been adequately delimited and special signs indicate the obligation to slow down. At the moment the road remains open , but it is not certain that "normality" will last long. The water advances, and the strip of sand that runs along the highway narrows day by day, until it disappears at the point of collapse.

But in the meantime the sea continues to dig and the increasingly real risk is that the next change in wind will bring with it a new, decisive storm. In fact, if the advance were to continue, the next slice of land to be swallowed up would be the lane leading to Cagliari .

At that point the closure of the 195 would become inevitable. And that future isn't likely to be too distant.
