Victims of violence who arrive at the emergency room of the Aou of Sassari " are subjected to a dramatic and traumatic journey ". Desirè Manca, regional councilor at the Five Star Movement, gives a brief summary to retrace what happened.

“Basically slapped, tossed around and abandoned. First parked in a surgery for hours waiting for a visit, then loaded like parcels on an ambulance and transported to another hospital complex to be able to make a first gynecological visit. Recharged in the ambulance, taken back to the clinic and then after another hour of waiting a new identical round, but to yet another hospital complex, for the infectious disease visit. At the end of an inhuman overwork , when you wait for a fundamental figure like that of the psychologist, you discover that there isn't one, because, being a public holiday, the service is not active. The psychiatrist? He's only one, and he's busy on his own ward for a tso for a suicide attempt (he'll show up an hour after the call). The social worker? This too is absent because it is not foreseen on public holidays ».

The hospital itself - underlines Manca -, when last November 14 "I denounced the suppression of the Pink Code for victims of violence in the emergency room, it replied by arguing that my statements were groundless and that the coordination of the Pink Code was inserted as a transversal function to the simple departmental structure of hospital psychiatry and psychology».

«Today - continues the councilor - I carried out an inspection visit inside the Emergency Room, at 10.20, where I asked to be subjected to the path dedicated to a patient victim of sexual violence (in the meantime there were 22 accesses, one red code, ten yellow codes, one of which has been waiting for a visit for about half an hour, five green codes, two of which have been waiting for a visit for about an hour, and a white code). I asked one of the two duty doctors present to give me a demonstration of the path, through the facts, which confirmed what was declared by the top management of the Aou, or rather that the red code had been inserted as a transversal function".

«Unfortunately - Desirè Manca denounces - I was able to verify and touch the truthfulness of my previous statements, put on paper in a question . Since the Pink Code for victims of violence has been abolished, patients have literally been slapped, they have lost an essential service, an act of civilization which must be recognised. We are in 2022 and any person, man, child or woman, victim of violence, whether physical, verbal, or psychological, has the right to be treated and followed up in their emergency room. Instead, the Aou of Sassari has trampled on this right, just think that on holidays there are no figures such as the psychologist and the social worker. As if people could choose which day to be attacked. Absurd and shameful ».

«The recognition of the Pink Code required the presence of a multidisciplinary team which, as demonstrated today, does not exist. The service does not exist – concludes the exponent of the Five Stars -. With a lot of anger I renew my statements and this time I have demonstrated the ordeal to which the victims are subjected . I am very sorry that this demonstration was successful. I will ensure that this video is brought to the attention of the health councilor because I believe that victims cannot be treated in this inhumane way, in which in order to access treatment they have to wait for a particular moment, a time and a weekday". .
