In the bulletin issued yesterday by the Crisis Unit of the Region, 173 new cases of Covid and three victims were recorded. What is worrying are the numbers on hospitalizations in the medical area, at an altitude of 93. An increase that reflects the national level as reported by the Higher Institute of Health in its latest monitoring.
The risk, with the arrival of the upcoming Christmas holidays and the end of the year, is the surge in infections and hospitalizations, hence the recommendation of the experts on maintaining prudent behavior.
In fact, the pressure on hospitals decides the change of color of a region: one ends up in the yellow zone if, in addition to the incidence of infections over 50 cases per week per 100 thousand inhabitants (exceeded by all regions except Molise), the alert thresholds of 10% occupancy of Covid beds in intensive care, and 15% in the medical area are also exceeded.
For now there are seven regions and autonomous provinces with resuscitations under pressure: in addition to Friuli Venezia Giulia and Alto Adige, Calabria (which on Monday will leave the white area as the first two already), Veneto, Liguria, Marche, Autonomous Province of Trento ; while they go beyond the warning parameter of 15% in the medical area of Calabria, Friuli Venezia Giulia, Alto Adige and Valle d'Aosta.
In Sardinia, the beds occupied by Covid patients respect numbers that allow the island to remain far from the risk threshold, and the role of vaccinations is increasingly important, as underlined by Sergio Marracini, medical director of the single hospital unit of Cagliari: "The the percentage of general immunization is below 80%, but if you continue to vaccinate, and accelerate with the third doses, I believe that at least intensive care can withstand the impact ".
