The landing at Capo Teulada: the Joint Stars soldiers “conquer” the polygon

Military operation at dawn today on the coast of Capo Teulada: the landing forces of the Navy "have started an amphibious operation starting from the flooded basin of Nave San Marco, with the aim of reaching and securing the coast". This is stated in a note issued by Covi, the joint operational command of the Ministry.

The activity is one of those planned by Joint Stars 2025, "the main national Defense exercise, of an inter-force and inter-agency nature". The same one that in recent days stopped in Cagliari, but with its "charitable" face, with initiatives - sponsored by weapons manufacturing companies such as Leonardo and Rwm - to raise funds to be used to purchase machinery for the future pediatric resuscitation department that should be activated at Brotzu.

But the ultimate goal of Joint Stars is training troops. For three days, the San Marco Marine Brigade "exercised in a complex scenario, testing the operational capabilities of landing, reclamation and control of a high-risk coastal area, to ensure land, sea and air control", the Ministry reports.

The protagonists of the action were the group of the 1st Firepower Control Team (Fct) of the paratrooper swimmers company, together with the 1st San Marco Regiment.

«The units, using light, highly mobile dinghies, reached the beach, neutralising simulated threats and clearing the access corridor to allow the landing of the GIS (Self-Propelled Floating Vessels) and the multi-role tactical vehicles in JTAC (Joint Terminal Attack Controller) configuration, which are essential for coordinating air support».

Once this phase was completed, the second part of the exercise began, "with the deployment of men and vehicles in various key points of the area. A complex operation, conducted to ensure control of the territory, prevent the approach of hostile forces and create favorable conditions for future landings. Some units then advanced into the wooded areas, simulating operations in a hostile and difficult-to-access environment and carrying out tactical reconnaissance aimed at identifying enemy threats in impervious scenarios".
