Illegal houses and concrete on the coast, buildings built without any authorization on the coast of Stintino, a stone's throw from the splendid La Pelosa beach .

After 13 years of legal battles and joint efforts by the competent authorities, the illegal houses were demolished with cranes , an intervention requested by the Municipality of Stintino. Despite the ban on building within 300 meters of the shoreline, in November 2009 some houses were built which were part of the "Sos Appentados" construction site which was never completed after the measures taken by the Sassari Public Prosecutor's Office.

The construction was seized in 2020 following a ruling by the Council of State which had accepted the appeals of some private individuals. An irregular situation, reported back in 2010 also by the television program "Striscia la Notizia". The illegal houses, located a short distance from the sea in non-buildable areas , represented a threat to the protection of the environmental heritage.

"The municipal administration, together with the competent authorities, has worked tirelessly to enforce the rules and regulations that protect the unique territory and ecosystem of Stintino", underlined the mayor Rita Vallebella . Hence the administration's invitation to the citizens of Stintino and visitors to the tourist village to continue to respect the rules and to report any abuses or irregular situations that could threaten the environment. «Together – adds the mayor – we can preserve the beauty of Stintino for future generations ».
