The expensive bill that is bringing the city's commercial activities to their knees does not respect anyone or anything. The Pinna brothers' bar-ice cream parlor in Piazza Mariano IV, one of the historic places with a consolidated activity over the years, does not escape the tentacles of dear everything, energy in the first place. A week ago the “Numero Uno” ice cream shop in Piazza Roma had lowered the shutter; the Pinna bar does not close, it resists but pays for the difficulties and deals with "accounts that do not add up", says Enrico Pinna who with his brother Paolo inherited the business from his father Carlo who in turn had received it from his grandfather. “We have been here since 1950, continues Enrico Pinna, but we have never experienced such a situation. The bills have tripled for several months, we started in June with 4,073 euros, 7300 in July, 8,473 in August, 3,899 in September. In the same months of 2021 we never reached 3 thousand euros. We grit our teeth and the belt, we go on but with the difficulties that can be imagined. We have been forced to revise prices because in addition to electricity, the costs of all over-the-counter products and for the production of ice cream in our laboratory have also increased. 75 cent sugar shot up to 1 euro 409 cents, milk rose 20 cents per liter. The updating of the price list was a necessity, the ice cream went from 23 euros to 30 euros per kilo. Coffee 1.20 per cup, for example. We kept staff costs low, luckily the customers understood but it is really difficult to go on ”, concludes Enrico Pinna.
