At the trial for the death of Speranza Ponti , which took place in Alghero in December 2019, the defense of Massimiliano Farci - accused of murder and theft - asked for his acquittal because "the fact does not exist". It is the fulcrum of the harangue that the lawyer Daniele Solinas gave this morning before the Court of Assizes of Sassari.

The lawyer tried to instill doubts in the jurors about the accusations made by the deputy prosecutors Beatrice Giovannetti and Angelo Beccu, who asked for Farci to be sentenced to life imprisonment , plus 18 months of daytime solitary confinement.

The accused , who was already serving a life sentence under a semi-release regime for the 1999 murder of the entrepreneur Renato Baldussi of San Sperate, has always declared himself innocent . In his stories the discovery of his now dead companion in the house, hanged with a sheet on the bedroom door.

The admission, on the other hand, concerns the concealment of the corpse: he would have taken him to a hill because Speranza had asked him to do so, and he was also afraid of not being believed by the police.

The lawyer underlined some elements indicating them as inconsistencies : among these the fact that the phone of the victim of the femicide had been hooked to the internet for almost three hours, the night between 5 and 6 December 2019, from 5 minutes before midnight. until about 3 in the morning, then with Speranza already dead according to the thesis of the prosecution. And by that time Farci had already returned to prison, he could not have his partner's cell phone with him.

Furthermore, for the defender, his client did not have a motive to kill : there were no economic reasons and there was no passionate motive.

Appointment now on November 15 when the Court, chaired by Judge Massimo Zaniboni, will listen to the rejoinders of the prosecutors and then the sentence will be issued.
