Stintino, all ready for the patronal feast: 15 days of events

Stintino is preparing to celebrate the patronal feast dedicated to the "Beata Vergine della Difesa" scheduled from 2 to 17 September.

This year the party is organized by the prior number 130 of the Confraternity of the Blessed Virgin of Defense, Antonio Diana , who in 2022 received the baton from Emanuele Maddau.

With the support of the Confraternity, the feast sees the entire family nucleus of the prior involved who, during the past year, "guarded" the main flag.

THE PROGRAM – The twenty-eighth edition of "Il viaggio del Postale" will kick off on Saturday in Porto Mannu of Stintino, the historical, philatelic and cultural event that recalls the journey of the lateen sail boat that carried the mail between Stintino and Porto Torres. The event, organized by the Italian Naval League, Gulf of Asinara Section, will see Stintino as the port of departure. At 9, from the Guardia Costiera square, the representative of the Stintino municipal administration will deliver the package to the postal commander who, with some guests and the "Orchestraspensierata" association on board, will leave for Porto Torres. Here at 12 the arrival and delivery of the mail to the representative of the Municipality of Turri is expected. The event is organized in collaboration with the Municipalities of Stintino and Porto Torres and therefore with Poste Italiane. On 4 September we start with games for children , at 4.00 pm in Largo Cala d'Oliva. Tuesday 5 September (8pm), still in Largo Cala d'Oliva, adults will be involved in the scheduled games. The Piazza dei 45, Wednesday 6 September at 21.30, will host the musical evening with ballroom dancing . On September 7, at 18, the parish priest Don Daniele Contieri will celebrate Mass in the parish church. At 8.30pm, Largo Cala d'Oliva will host the band concert while, from 9.30pm, the Piazza dei 45 will host the musical evening dedicated first to the Tribute to Biagio Antonacci; from 11pm DJ Madd and Efvs will be on stage.

September 8 is the highlight of the festival . At 10 the mass in the parish, in the afternoon, from 16.30, the religious functions, the blessing of the war memorial with the placing of the laurel wreath by the mayor Rita Vallebella, then the procession to the sea. At the end of the religious function, everyone will meet at the Casa della Confraternita , where the typical Stintino biscuits and a glass of wine will be distributed. At 9.30 pm on the Colombo seafront you can watch the fireworks display and at 10.30 pm music evening in piazza dei 45 with Forelock & Band, Sud Sound System and DJ Giorgio Prezioso. Saturday 9 September, at the second pier of the Colombo seafront there will be the maypole at sea. In the evening in piazza dei 45 the music of Disco Superstar Show, DJ Diva and DJ Morpheus. Sunday 10 unmissable appointment for rowing boat enthusiasts. At 12 the port harbor will be the stage for the rowing prize. At 8pm in piazza dei 45 the first award ceremony of the games and at 10pm the music of Beppe Dettori.

On Saturday 16th September the piazza dei 45 will host the inevitable fish festival and at 10pm music with the "Stintino Guitar Contest". Sunday 17 September the house of the Confraternity will be the meeting point for the members of the Stintino association. At 3 pm, in fact, they will meet for the election of the new prior, who will take over the baton from Antonio Diana. At 17 the parish church, after mass and the procession through the streets of the town, will be the canonical place for the exchange of the flag between the outgoing and new prior.
