The Court of Cassation has closed the case of Elia Di Genova, alias Elia 17 Baby, accused of stabbing the Sassari security guard Fabio Piu in the back , on August 14, 2022 on the Marinella beach, in Porto Rotondo . The Supreme Court has confirmed the ten-year prison sentence for the 28-year-old Roman.
The requests of the Attorney General and the civil party lawyer, Jacopo Merlini, were accepted. The trapper's lawyers, Pietro and Gian Maria Nicotera, have always asked for the crime to be reclassified from attempted murder to personal injury.
The attack, according to investigations by the Carabinieri of Porto Rotondo, occurred at the end of an argument between a group of young Romans, including Elia 17Baby, and the security personnel of a nightclub who had sent them away because they were being too disruptive.
Piu also intervened in the discussion, trying to calm things down. The stab in the back damaged his spine: Piu now moves around in a wheelchair.
