The fire alert issued by the regional Civil Protection has prompted the Municipality of Siniscola to adopt extraordinary measures: starting today, Monday 28 July, the beaches and natural areas of Berchida, Capo Comino and the Pineta di Mandras will be closed to the public for safety reasons .
The mayor has, in fact, signed an emergency ordinance ordering the precautionary closure of the areas most at risk of fires, following the regional bulletin indicating a red code for the entire municipality.
According to the Decentralized Functional Center, strong mistral winds are expected in the next few hours, with gusts reaching gale force strength, as well as possible storm surges along the northern coasts, with waves up to 4 meters.
Access will be prohibited to everyone, especially to Berchida beach, from the entrance to the forestry site in Capo Comino to the access to state road 125 and to the entire Pineta di Mandras, including access from the hamlets of Santa Lucia and S'Ena e Sa Chita.
The measure was taken to protect public safety and facilitate any rescue operations and interventions in the event of an emergency .
The dry plant carcass, high temperatures and strong winds, in fact, represent a high-risk combination for starting fires.
Furthermore, the municipal administration invites the population to exercise maximum caution, to respect the prohibitions and to promptly report any outbreak of fire or suspicious behaviour.
