He crashed into a pylon of the "Bullita" level crossing, along the former state road 129 bis near the town of Sindia. In the accident, his wife Margherita Deidda, 76 years old originally from Carbonia, died instantly. He, Dino Rizzoli, a 77-year-old pensioner who lives in Tresnuraghes, is in very serious condition at the Santissima Annunziata in Sassari.

It seemed like yet another dramatic accident that occurred on Friday evening. But Rizzoli, originally from Milan and terminally ill with cancer, told rescuers that his had to be a suicide. And he left two notes in the car. He wanted to die to avoid further suffering, taking his wife with him.

The man, originally from Milan, is under investigation for voluntary homicide. According to the prosecutor of Oristano, he may have acted without saying anything to his wife.
