Siliqua, hiker gets lost while trekking: firefighters rescue him

Firefighters were at work this afternoon in Siliqua to rescue a missing tourist near Lake Medau Zirimilis. The team from the Cagliari Command, Iglesias detachment, responded around 3:30 PM.

The hiker, a Piedmontese man who had been out trekking that morning, became disoriented and ran out of water, and called for help. The Operations Room was able to trace his exact location using the GPS coordinates from the missing man's cell phone.

The firefighters, after an initial approach on the SS 293, continued on foot along a country path to reach the man, who was recovered in good health.
