The most farsighted arrived as early as 4 a.m. Then came the others. Everyone lined up in front of the headquarters on Viale Colombo to enroll at the University of the Third Age in Quartu , which had to implement a limited number of places a few years ago due to the overwhelming number of applications. So, to make sure they got a place and were among the lucky ones, many people got up early this morning.

"We distributed up to 400 registration numbers this morning," explains Anna Maria Sanna, director of the University for the Third Age. "We're very pleased with this large turnout. A few years ago, we had to introduce a limited number of participants, bringing the total to 2,700."

In this phase preceding the start of the new university year, "we first renewed the places of those who were already enrolled, let's say about eighty percent, and then the remaining places will be for new students, and we still have some availability beyond the allocated numbers."

If it's not a record, it's close to it for this University, which is attracting an ever-increasing number of students. This is largely thanks, adds Sanna, "to the history of this University, which is about to celebrate its thirtieth anniversary, and to its organization and programming, which could not be otherwise with such a high number of students."
