The team at work these days on the construction site of the excavation activities in the acropolis of Santu Teru, in the countryside of Senorbì, is made up of 25 people. The archaeological investigations, conducted by students of the University of Cagliari with teachers Carla Del Vais and Marco Giuman, will be illustrated to the public on Tuesday 19 September thanks to a day of promotion of culture organized by the University of Cagliari in agreement with the municipal administration of Senorbì. This is the programme: from 10am to 12pm the guided tour of the local General Luigi Mezzacapo middle school, from 3pm to 4.30pm the route dedicated to the community and to anyone interested.

The inhabitants of Santu Teru   they were buried in nearby necropolises, on the slopes of Monte Luna, where over 120 tombs have been identified. The excavation campaign aims to increase knowledge of the local history of the town in the heart of Trexenta. The site is located near an important river ford, in the center of a fertile area that controls the penetration routes that connect Campidano with the internal regions of Gerrei and Sarrabus. Excavations under concession from the Ministry of Culture, the Superintendency of Archaeology, Fine Arts and Landscape for the metropolitan city of Cagliari and the provinces of Oristano and Southern Sardinia to the Department of Literature, Languages and Cultural Heritage of the University of Cagliari. The commitment of the Municipality of Senorbì and the Sa Domu Nosta cooperative which manages the archaeological museum in the center of the town is also fundamental from a logistical and organizational point of view.

Excavation campaigns on the most important archaeological sites have also started in nearby towns: in the Piscu nuraghe in Suelli, in the Su Angiu area in Mandas and in the nuragic palace of Barru between Guasila and Guamaggiore.
