Last night, the Sennori city council unanimously approved a resolution condemning all armed conflicts, repudiating war and reaffirming its consistency with Article 11 of the Italian Constitution, officially recognizing the State of Palestine, and calling for an end to hostilities and the genocide being carried out in the Gaza Strip against the Palestinian population. Following the approval of the resolution, a "No to Genocide" banner and the Peace Flag will be displayed on the facade of the City Hall.

An identical message will be displayed on digital information panels around town. Two activists were allowed to speak at the discussion held in the City Council chamber, representing a large group of Sennorese citizens committed to supporting peace in the Middle East and who attended the civic assembly session.

The resolution approved by the Council will be sent to the Region and the National Association of Italian Municipalities (ANCI) to act as spokespersons to the Italian Parliament and Government, urgently calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the protection of the human rights of the civilian population, and an end to the ongoing genocide in the Gaza Strip. It also calls for recognition of the State of Palestine, support for a lasting political solution based on international law and the peaceful coexistence of the Palestinian and Israeli peoples, and for coordinated action by the European Parliament. Furthermore, the City Council urges the relevant institutions to: actively engage within the UN for the recognition of Palestine as a full member state; use all political, diplomatic, and legal tools to halt the colonization and annexation of the Occupied Palestinian Territories; and move beyond declarations of principle to take concrete, coherent, and timely action to end all wars, build peace, and uphold international law in all contexts.

The same municipal resolution will be sent to all the competent bodies: ANCI, Presidency of the Council of Ministers, Ministries, Chambers of Parliament, European Union.
