One hundred and fifty trucks a day on a country road is too much. Not even an intervention by Terna for the Tyrrhenian Link maxi cable can justify it.
The Selargius-Ussana road, and the appurtenances of the mega excavation site, have collapsed: destroyed under the weight of the trucks. Thus, to the controversies for the Tyrrhenian Link in the strict sense, this new aspect is added.
The cable laying works have been suspended and, in an ordinance, the mayor Gigi Concu has requested the restoration of the road , on whose changed conditions (for a negative reason) Terna has admitted its responsibilities without discussion.
The committee that opposes the maxi cable is protesting. Not just now: because the works are particularly impactful and because that cable just won't let anything stand next to the rows of grapes and some caper plants, typical of the area. And protests are also being raised about the excavations that would persist in the area affected by the laying of the cable, which according to some is of notable archaeological value.
Rita Corda, spokesperson for the “No Tyrrhenian Link Land Defense Committee” , wrote a letter to inform the Superintendency and the Region.
The works, however, are not blocked for archaeological findings. The real reason is that the municipal administration has suspended the transit in the Selargius-Ussana due to the conditions in which it has been reduced by the crossing of 150 trucks per day.
