Security alert on the Island. This is what was launched by Siap (Italian Union of Police Members), in a sit-in organized this morning outside the Cagliari Police Headquarters. The focus is on staff shortages, which put the effectiveness of services at risk and make the workloads of the agents unsustainable.
"For several years we have been faced with depleted human resources, retirements that impact the workforce by 40% and reinstatements that do not even cover a third of the departures", explains Mauro Aresu, provincial secretary of Siap.
"No police office is safe from this situation, we appeal to the department so that, in the rounds of reinforcements planned for this year, Sardinia is taken into serious consideration ", declares the deputy national general secretary Massimo Zucconi Martelli.
"The weakening of the State Police department is reflected to a greater extent on the police stations and on all the activities under their prerogative, this creates a destabilization from a collective point of view", concludes the general secretary of Siap Sardegna, Daniele Rocchi. The union also demonstrated yesterday in Nuoro, tomorrow and Friday stops in Oristano and Sassari.
