"Today here is a very high-level international delegation. It is the moment to show what kind of characteristics our site has and what kind of possibilities there are in our territory. It is an exceptional way to be able to tell the world that Sardinia is ready to welcome ET and is ready to do so not only for the unique characteristics of the site and the scientific community that is currently supporting this initiative, but above all for the role and commitment of the Region that has been consistent".

With these words, the President of the Region Alessandra Todde anticipated the opening of the two-day event in Su Gologone (Oliena) organized by the Ministry of University and Research in collaboration with the National Institute of Nuclear Physics as part of the Italian presidency of the G7 on large research infrastructures and their impact on society. At the center of attention is the Einstein Telescope project, the European detector for gravitational waves that Italy has applied to host in Sardinia, in the former mine of Sos Enattos.

"We have allocated 350 million that were necessary for the candidacy and we have created a project unit. We have made sure to be consistent and this is also a novelty for national politics. I want to thank Minister Anna Maria Bernini who has shown herself to be farsighted. And it is beautiful when institutions manage to work together with a single objective", added Todde.

The minister stressed that Lula and Sos Enattos are the ideal candidates, due to the geomorphological and entropic characteristics of the territory. And she wanted to add that "research on gravitational waves is also crucial for medicine".
