Separate waste collection is increasing in Sassari. The Palazzo Ducale announced that the rate has reached 63.18%.
"In the four months since door-to-door collection became fully operational," says Pierluigi Salis, Councilor for the Environment and Deputy Mayor, "the increase in Prunizzedda and Monte Rosello Alto has been approximately 2.5%. "The fact that we're so close to 65%," emphasizes Mayor Giuseppe Mascia, "encourages us to intensify our efforts and confirms that door-to-door collection is one of the winning strategies , as we've been saying since the beginning of our mandate."
"The goal is to extend it to other parts of the city, to obtain bonuses and improve service and civic decorum, " continues Salis, while for Mascia "those bonuses could allow us not to intervene on the Tari."
Meanwhile, the City Council continues its fight to ensure cleanliness and decorum in Sassari. "There's much to be done to eliminate the bad habits of those who still refuse to participate in this battle for civility," Mascia insists. "We will expand the area covered by door-to-door collection, starting with neighborhoods adjacent to those where it's already active," the councilor announces. "Home collection ensures high levels of waste separation," he explains, "because it empowers users and facilitates control." Therefore, "the change will eventually affect the entire urban area, but it will be gradual and tailored to the characteristics of each neighborhood."
