The Municipality of Sassari launches the environmental impact assessment procedure to expand the landfill of "Scala Erre", the integrated waste management plant of Sassari, which has been affected by the problem linked to the exhaustion of the authorized volumes for two years now.

A situation that runs the risk of exhausting its operations in the short term, unless the levels of differentiated collection, which are constantly improving, further extend its life.

In recent days, the body has launched the procedure for the direct assignment of the service for the preparation of the technical documentation, necessary for the request for the opinion of subjection to the procedures on the Via.

The volumes authorized in the month of February will presumably end next August, but, in order to postpone the closure of the landfill, the municipal administration intends to ask for a further authorization to raise the cultivated module with the recovered settlements.

A procedure that requires the verification of the Environmental Impact Assessment and a further modification of the Hague, the Integrated Environmental Authorization in force.

In the first days of March, the municipal technical office asked the company Secit Impianti srl to present the offer to prepare the documents necessary to start the request for Via's opinion, aimed at the intervention of raising approximately 25,000-30,000 cubic meters of the module worked with the recovered settlements, thus expanding the volumes of the Scala Erre waste disposal plant to avoid the closure of the now saturated landfill.
