Sassari, man attempts to steal from church and is arrested

He attempted to steal from a church and was arrested. It happened yesterday afternoon in Sassari, at the parish of San Giovanni Bosco on Via Washington, when a 53-year-old man from Sassari attempted to steal goods from the church. Caught by the sacristan, he was quickly caught by patrol officers, whom he resisted.
The police search later revealed a pair of scissors hidden in the man's pocket. A summary hearing into the incident was held today in Sassari court, where the suspect was represented by lawyers Sabina Useli and Carlo Ermini.
Judge Valentina Nuvoli, the prosecutor being Armando Mammone, ordered the 53-year-old to be held in prison. He already had a residence ban for a crime he allegedly committed in recent weeks. A hearing in the case will be held on April 22nd, and lawyers may decide on a plea bargain.
