A married couple from Sassari were attacked on Wednesday night while returning home in the city's historic center.
But the two managed to scare off the robber.
A husband and wife were approached by a stranger in Salita del Vaglio. The criminal attacked them to steal the fanny pack containing the wallet and other personal items. But the man first resisted the attack, then reacted and started screaming.
The robber, frightened and surprised by the reaction, fled through the alleys of the old city.
The Carabinieri are investigating the episode, having collected the couple's complaint and are trying to trace the person responsible for the attack.
