The endless decline of the historic center of Sassari. The emergency in the oldest part of the capital of Turrita is continuous and residents now seem resigned. Syringes abound on windowsills and on the ground, legacies of non-stop drug use. "It's a coming and going for hours - say the residents, who ask to remain anonymous - they come, they occupy the parking spaces of those who live in the neighborhood with their cars, they buy drugs and often they do it here". Accompanying the drug trafficking, and making the situation worse, are almost daily fights.
"The immigrants are fighting and throwing bottles between via San Donato and the nearby streets." The residents feel like prisoners. "There are terrified mothers who don't know where to go with their children." The degradation is such that many are now trying to sell or are about to wall up their homes to move elsewhere.
"Nobody wants to buy or if they do it will happen when the owners are forced to sell off the houses, despite the money invested". In the meantime another day begins after yet another night of noise and there is already fear for the next one where, presumably, the same script will be repeated.
