A letter from the Sap Police union to the Questore and the Prefect to report a serious episode that occurred last Monday inside the Sassari Police Headquarters.

A 27-year-old Nigerian citizen, after having entered the Police Headquarters without any authorization, had lashed out at two security officers who had tried to stop him.

The two were attacked by the 27-year-old who took the gun out of an agent's holster and then tried to pull the trigger twice, trying to "blow back", with the intention of shooting at his colleague.

Fortunately, the policeman did not carry the "chambered" cartridge in his barrel and the attacker was stopped with the help of other operators who intervened who arrested him for attempted murder.

After the incident, the secretary general of Sap, autonomous police union, Stefano Paoloni, put pen to paper the "urgent" request for "structural interventions" to secure the guards of the Police Headquarters.

Sap calls for "the adoption of necessary measures so that all operators are equipped with suitable holsters to adequately preserve their safety, so as to avoid the realization of tragic events already experienced in the recent past".

The letter underlines that the guardhouse located in the main entrance is a semi-circular counter, "absolutely inadequate for the type of service performed".

In fact, the colleagues who are stationed inside cannot continuously control the access of users since the view would be interrupted by the perimeter wall.
